Iranian First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi here Wednesday expressed his country's readiness to transfer valuable expertise in various economic areas to Mongolia.
<P>Davoudi, who arrived here Tuesday night to take part in the conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), met with Mongolian Prime Minister Tsahiagiin Elbegdorj. </P>
<P>He voiced Iran's firm determination to expand relations with Eastern and Middle Asian states. </P>
<P>"We have witnessed improvement in Iran-Mongolia ties in various economic fields such as mining and joint ventures in recent years," he pointed out. </P>
<P>Elbegdorj, whose country is an observer member of the SCO along with Iran, Pakistan and India, urged expansion of ties with Iran banking on the two countries' historical and cultural commonalties. </P>
<P>Mongolia, which is to hold its 80th independence anniversary next month, is inviting Iran's scientific and research luminaries to cooperate with the country in various development activities, he said. </P>
<P>The two sides expressed hope Iran and Mongolia would soon be accepted as regular members of the organization. </P>
<P>The fourth conference of SCO member states is slated to begin here today. Participants will discuss various issues in the areas of economic, trade, cultural and educational cooperation. </P>
<P>The Shanghai Economic Cooperation was formed in 2001.</P> |
