全球未来研究所（Global Institute For Tomorrow）诚征项目

中国香港非營利机构“全球未来研究所”（The Global Institute for Tomorrow简称GIFT）旨在促进商业领袖及政策制定者认识国际接轨带来的挑战与机遇。GIFT现正诚征项目，通过制定商业发展计划汇集国际企业管理人员、非营利机构以及投资者共同促进亚洲发展中地区的可持续发展。


全球未来研究所准备2009年在国内及其它亚洲国家如印度、老挝、印尼等进行多次的商业发展项目。我们诚邀NGO、草根团体、企业（简称合作方）提出符合以下标准的农村或城市项目，寻找共同合作的机会：

·
项目已有一定基础，最好已进行几年时间，并准备进入扩张期；
·
项目能为社区、本土企业以及投资者带来收益并能自我持续營運；
·
项目本身具有一定的商业可行性，而项目准备生产的产品或服务有明确的市场需求；这些产品服务可以是基于当地的某些自然资源加工而成，或者以创新科技、手法来解决当地人面临的日常生活问题；
·
项目可扶植当地社区带来社会及环境上的正面影响的企业
·
项目配合地方政府工作，获得当地领导的肯定及支持；
·
地方上发掘出有强烈创业意愿并希望推动本地发展的能人；
·
项目采纳的模式具有增加营业规模及应用范围的潜力；
·
当地最好已具有必要的基础建设，如水、电、路；
·
当地并非处于占争地带
·
合作方須於过去数年与地方建立起良好的合作关系；
·
合作方不把项目看成是慈善或者援助，而是用商业手法去推动地方持续发展。

如果项目已存在其它投资者，全球未来研究所愿意考虑共同投资。关于产品服务的专营权以及市场营销的安排，则需要相关方进一步磋商。

全球未来研究所采取商业导向而不是提供援助。我们的定位不是援助或者扶贫机构，也不把合作方视为被资助对象。

以下介绍的两个可持续发展项目，将进一步说明我们所寻找的潜在项目：

1. 全球未来研究所今年中旬在云南省完成一次考察，目前正准备与投资者成立一家公司把云南的非木材森林产品销售到国内外市场。过程中涉及在商品链条后端推动农民成立生产合作社，而公司就负责营销和出口等事务。

2. 另一次青年领导力活动2008年10月份在河北省完成。参加者拟定了一个沼气发电与有机猪肉生产计划，推动循环经济模式。该项目主要内容涉及沼气发电及生产有机肥料、有机猪肉的市场营销、猪肉深加工以及碳排放交易，为潜在投资者提供了极好的投资机会。

CALL FOR PROJECTS – Global Institute For Tomorrow (GIFT)


The Global Institute For Tomorrow (GIFT) is a non-profit organisation based in Hong Kong, China, dedicated to engaging business leaders and policy makers on the challenges of globalisation. GIFT’s Global Young Leaders Programme (YLP) brings corporate executives, NGO’s and investors together to foster sustainable development outcomes in Asian communities.

Each YLP begins with a 5-day classroom module during which a team of 20 corporate executives examine globalisation-related topics such as corporate social responsibility and civil society. Participants then apply these concepts in a 7-day project site investigation, working closely with community members or a local enterprise to develop a sustainable business plan. The plan forms the basis upon which GIFT subsequently seeks sources of investment to implement the project.

The YLP has been endorsed by the Clinton Global Initiative. Since 2006, GIFT has organised four YLP projects in China and India, with executives from companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Shell, Cathay Pacific Airways, the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation, Gammon Construction, J.P. Morgan, UBS, CLSA, and the Cheung Kong Group taking part.

GIFT is continually seeking China projects – in rural or urban settings - to conduct future YLP’s. We would like to invite organizations in China to propose projects which meet the following criteria:

• The project has been operating for some time and is entering into an expansion phase;
• Are well-suited to a business-oriented approach through which self-sustaining benefits for local communities, businesses as well as for investors brought in by GIFT are realistically achievable.
• Already have a solid business case to build on (there is clearly existing or potential market demand), and reasonably good potential for products or services to be developed to fulfill market needs. The products developed will be typically but not necessarily derived from local natural resources, or based on innovative technologies that solve everyday problems for local communities.
• Where there is strong local leadership, in terms of creative problem-solving and entrepreneurial mindsets. Having local entrepreneurs or people with the desire and capability to start their own businesses is particularly important to ensure long term project success.
• Have the potential for substantial scaling up.
• Where basic infrastructures such as roads, water supply, and electricity are likely already in place.
• Where the NGO partner we work with has maintained strong relationships and networks in the project area over some years.
• Where the NGO and local partners are open to adopting business approaches in tackling social development issues, rather than perceiving the project as charity or aid oriented.

GIFT is open to co-financing arrangements whereby there is already an existing investor previously brought into the project by the project owner. Issues regarding exclusive product purchase/licensing/marketing agreements will need to be further discussed between the parties involved.

GIFT takes a business-oriented rather than aid approach, and therefore do not see itself as a donor agency, or our NGO and local partners as aid recipients.

As an example of a GIFT sustainable development project, we are currently following through on a project in Yunnan, China, where we work closely with investors to set up a business that would procure and market non-timber-forest-products (NTFP) to domestic and overseas markets. We work with local partners which help farmers to set up NTFP cooperatives on the backend of the supply chain, whilst the company will work on marketing and export aspects of the business.

Another project in Hebei, China involved a biogas-driven pork business, which presents an investment opportunity in biogas electrification, organic pork marketing, processing of pork into value-added products, and in generating carbon credits.
